Jardins de Marrakech VII, 2025
Since the summer of 2025, artist Tina has expanded her practice to include watercolor painting, exploring the expressive potential of fluid color and spontaneous gesture. During her artist residency in Marrakech in 2025, she created Jardins de Marrakech, a captivating cycle of 35 contemporary watercolor paintings inspired by the city’s gardens and vibrant botanical life.
The series brings the flora of Marrakech to life through radiant, glowing hues and expressive brushwork. Influenced by the city’s unique atmosphere, Tina translates the colors of Morocco—warm ochres, deep terracotta reds, and luminous blues—into dynamic compositions that celebrate light, movement, and organic form.
Working with watercolor allows the artist to embrace transparency, fluidity, and chance, creating subtle transitions between pigments as they interact with water on paper. Each work captures fleeting impressions of the gardens, plants, and natural textures encountered during her time in Marrakech.
Jardins de Marrakech reflects Tina’s ongoing interest in color, emotion, and nature in contemporary painting. The series invites viewers to experience the sensory richness of Marrakech through delicate layers of pigment and spontaneous painterly gestures.
This collection of original watercolor artworks highlights the artist’s evolving practice and offers a vibrant exploration of botanical forms, color relationships, and the poetic atmosphere of Morocco.
