The Space Between Us was among the first photographs published in a Leica S editorial in 2016 and has since become one of the most recognized works of the series. The image reflects TINA TRUMPP’s distinctive approach as a photo artist, whose contemporary photo art carries a strong painterly aesthetic and a deep connection to fine art photography.
The composition centers on a woman with a fishing net, a motif that evokes both presence and distance. The net becomes more than an object—it acts as a subtle barrier, a structure of separation and connection at once. It introduces a layered space within the image, where visibility is softened and meaning unfolds through suggestion rather than clarity.
The title The Space Between Us also resonates with the contemplative composition by Craig Armstrong, known for his atmospheric and emotionally layered music. Much like his work, the photograph carries a sense of distance, reflection, and quiet emotional depth, exploring the invisible connections that exist between people.
In this context, TINA TRUMPP transforms space itself into a central subject. The distance between figure and viewer, between gesture and perception, becomes charged with meaning—suggesting longing, intimacy, silence, and tension. What is not shown becomes as important as what is visible.
Through light, composition, and atmosphere, the image turns emptiness into a powerful narrative element. As in music, where silence holds emotional weight, The Space Between Us reveals how distance is never empty, but filled with memory, emotion, and unseen connection.
As a work of contemporary fine art photography, the image invites a slow, contemplative viewing—where the space between becomes the place where meaning begins.
