The illustrated book Verführungen considered by connoisseurs to be the definitive work on modern nude photography
When I look at my photo book on nude photography, I don’t see it as a traditional depiction of nudity. To me, it is rather a personal expression of intimacy, perception, and sensuality—inspired by the concept of the female gaze.
My Kind of Sensuality
I never wanted to create loud, staged images. I'm interested in quiet sensuality—the kind that only reveals itself upon a second glance.
In my photographs, I work with soft light, shadows, and close-ups. For me, the body is not a surface that needs to be displayed, but something that slowly reveals itself.
To me, sensuality isn't about provocation—it's about presence.
My Gaze – The Female Gaze
For me, the female gaze isn't a theory, but an attitude. I don't take photographs to objectify the body, but to give it space.
What's important to me is:
that the person in front of the camera remains the subject
that no pose is created “for the outside observer”
that a form of self-determination becomes apparent
I want to create images in which no one feels like they're on display—neither the person in the picture nor the person looking at it.
Between Photography and Painting
For me, many of my works straddle the line between sculpture and painting. I deliberately use light as a painterly element, minimize the use of color, and leave plenty of negative space in the image.
This results in photographs that transcend the moment. They are not meant to document, but to evoke a certain feeling—almost timeless, almost still.
Intimacy as an Encounter
Every photo in my photo book represents a moment of its own to me. It’s not a story in the traditional sense, but rather a series of encounters.
I play with closeness and distance:
sometimes very minimalist
sometimes almost physically palpable
but never pushy
This balance is important to me. Intimacy can develop, but it shouldn't be forced.
This photo book is a very personal project for me. It shows how I see bodies—not as objects, but as something independent, dignified, and sensual all at once.
Through my work, I hope to:
allow for a more peaceful view of the body
Redefining Sensuality
and create space for a different way of seeing
If my pictures evoke a reaction, I hope it’s not a hasty judgment—but rather a moment of reflection.
