My name is Tina Trumpp. With two “p”s. And no, I’m not related to Donald Trump. Even though I have to make this clarification surprisingly often.
Ever since Donald Trump became known around the world as the U.S. president, my last name has regularly been a topic of conversation. When I introduce myself, it sometimes takes only a few seconds before someone asks, “Trumpp? Like Donald Trump? Are you related?”
My answer to that is now clear: “Of course! But Donald belongs to the impoverished branch of the family. After all, his name is missing a ‘p’!”
You've got to have a little sense of humor. And if people are constantly asking you about an American president, you might as well turn it into a good joke.
Donald Trump and I: Two "P"s Against the White House
While Donald Trump is in the White House, I'm behind my camera. He is the President of the United States; I am a nude photographer in the Stuttgart area.
I focus on light, aesthetics, and the art of capturing people on camera. Donald makes political headlines and gives public speeches. So our professional similarities are limited—aside from the occasional attention our names receive.
Still, it's funny how quickly my last name becomes a topic of conversation. Sometimes I just want to introduce myself without having to give a little lecture on the correct spelling afterward.
On the other hand, a name that people remember isn't necessarily a bad thing. And who knows—maybe I should introduce a name fee at some point. Given how well-known my supposed relative is, it might very well be worth it.
Donald Trump has roots in the Palatinate—I call Swabia home
In fact, there is a German connection to the name Trump. Donald Trump's grandfather, Friedrich Trump, was born in Kallstadt in the Palatinate in 1869 and later emigrated to the United States.
My family, on the other hand, isn't from the Palatinate, but from the Stuttgart area. The name Trumpp is also quite common there. So for us, it's not an exotic last name that only came into being because of an American president.
I can't prove any family connection to Donald Trump. After all, similar names alone aren't enough to establish that.
But it’s certainly enough for a little joke: He has his Palatinate roots, while I have my Swabian ones. Maybe that’s exactly where the difference lies. While he made it all the way to the White House, I’ve stayed true to my camera.
Conclusion: Trumpp is still Trumpp
I take the mix-ups in stride, even though there are times when I could explain the difference in my sleep. My name is Tina Trumpp, my family is from the Stuttgart area, and I’m a nude photographer. This is my own story—completely independent of what’s happening at the White House. This blog isn’t about Trump news either—it’s about Trumpp news…
And as for Donald, I have just one important question: If he really does belong to the impoverished branch of the family because he’s missing a “p,” maybe he should consider investing in that missing letter.
I could offer him some advice on that.
After all, I know all about the two “p”s.
