When Photographic Art Gains Value—and When It Begins to Be Traded on the Secondary Market at Auction Houses
Photographic art can increase in value when editions are limited and nearly sold out, demand rises, and the artist gains recognition. A complete provenance and international visibility also play an important role in this process.
The secondary market emerges as soon as works are regularly resold at higher prices. From that point on, they also find their way into auction houses.
Aside from its investment value, photographic art remains particularly valuable when it is experienced and appreciated on a daily basis in one’s own environment.
