„Come a little closer“ – Singer TINA TRUMPP holds up to this promise with her debut album. The title quotes the legendary virtuoso jazz singer Shirley Horn.
„Come a little closer“ includes ten compositions from the genre of intimate jazz ballads. From „The Look Of Love“ to „Wild Is The Wind“ her pleasant and light floating interpretations give these jazz standards a new twist and also include some of her own material. TINA TRUMPP sees her affinity to Shirley Horn in the way she makes the songs her own. „By concentrating on finding the essence of the song and leaving out what‘s unnecessary, my aim is to sound natural and maintain a certain innocence.“
To realize her vision TINA TRUMPP put together a team of excellent musicians to accompany her. After the first recordings in Stuttgart and then further recordings in Berlin at the famous Hansa Studios, the pieces where mixed and mastered by Arne Schumann, the producer for Till Broenner and Frank Chastenier. The inclusion of a string quartet and Sebastian Studnitzky‘s arrangements add a special flair to the album. Commenting on the recordings, Studnitzky, an exceptional trumpeter and member of the Nils Landgren and Wolfgang Haffner bands, says: „I really love the laid back, yet intense sound.“ It is far from the sugar-coated orchestrations of many jazz productions.
